Working on a foundation of proven models nation-wide, LuLu's Rescue is launching an exciting local initiative that will help save the lives of hundreds of thousands of homeless companion animals.
Without question, there is a direct correlation between the number of spay/neuter surgeries performed and the number of animals who subsequently land on death row. One of the most effective responses to this crisis are clinics offering a high volume of affordable, quality surgeries in areas with extreme populations of companion animals. Increasing the number of surgeries ultimately decreases the amount of homeless cats and dogs being dumped into kill shelters. It's that simple.
The biggest start up challenge for a clinic is acquiring the facilities to perform spay/neuter surgeries. LuLu’s Rescue has conceived a cost-effective solution to this problem by acquiring trailers, once used as offices on construction sites, and repurposing them into sterile, fully functioning surgical pods for use in our communities. Each pod will be divided into three sections: An intake/reception area, a surgical room and a recovery room. LuLu's business plan will have qualified veterinary staff in place immediately upon completion of each renovation to ensure every pod will be operational and self sustaining within 24-36 months.
In an effort to be part of the solution, Ruby is donating her 9th birthday celebration to Glitter Lemonade, so we can sponsor a population control pod through LuLu's Rescue. It is our mission to grant 5k to cover the cost of one pod for the neighborhood that needs it most. When considering a donation in lieu of a traditional birthday gift, we ask that you please share this video and the words of Matthew Scully with your children. Even if you are not moved to contribute at this time, his message is transcending and his wisdom universal:
“ANIMALS ARE MORE THAN EVER A TEST OF OUR CHARACTER, OF MANKIND’S CAPACITY FOR EMPATHY AND FOR DECENT, HONORABLE CONDUCT AND FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP. WE ARE CALLED TO TREAT THEM WITH KINDNESS, NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE RIGHTS, POWER OR A CLAIM TO EQUALITY, BUT IN A SENSE, BECAUSE THEY DON’T. THEY ALL STAND UNEQUAL AND POWERLESS BEFORE US”
Introduce philanthropy into your child's everyday life and give them the curiosity, knowledge and power to make a difference: DONATE
